Do more with less - improving practice productivity: Passing on operational inefficiencies to clients in the form of fee increases is not a sustainable business strategy and may be harming your practice. The focus in the future must be on increased productivity both from doctors and from staff.

Remaining Profitable in an unprofitable climate - Staying profitable in a good economic climate is not easy but during a recession its downright difficult. To do so, practice owners, managers and staff must focus on the activities that will have the most financial impact as well as allow them to continue to offer good patient care.

Description: The Health of Your Practice and the Health of Your Patients
Should Be One and The Same
A full body examination will help uncover the nutrient deficiencies in your practice and provide solutions for improving heart rate (cash flow), circulation (processes) and overall well-being (profitability). Throughout the day we’ll cover everything from brand strategy to internal and external marketing, evaluating your financial health, examining profitability, bringing on an associate partner and how to leave a lasting legacy for your community.
8:00 Title: Is my coat shiny? – How do I look?
Your brand is more than your logo or mission statement. It should drive how you do business and thus, how others see you. We start with the big picture and dig into the details to create that exceptional patient and client experience that will be remembered.
9:00 Title: Is my blood pressure WNL?
We will explore the most under-utilized yet most cost effective form of marketing and discuss ways to engage the team to build brand champions and keep your internal processes running smoothly, to generate revenue and keep clients and referring veterinarians both satisfied and loyal.
10:00 Title: Temperament - Tame or Feral?
A frequently overlooked aspect of communicating with our referring vets and clients is carefully crafting what we say and how we say it. We will evaluate what messages are important for our respective audiences to hear, and determine if they are in alignment with who we really are. We’ll cover the must have’s and must do’s to be seen as the solution for specialty care.
11:00 Title: Pure Breed or Mutt? Where do I fit in?
If your vision includes more than providing specialized medical care, and you want to make a valuable contribution to society, then become an active member of your community. It’s good for business and provides a great outlet for you and your team. We’ll help you determine where to place your efforts and evaluate how you measure up through multiple sets of eyes.
1:00 Title: TPR – Taking Your Practice’s Vital Signs —Part 1
In the same way that the TPR gives an initial look at a pet’s basic health status, periodic financial and operational reports give the practice owner or manager a look at the practice’s financial health status. This section will cover not only what metrics to look at and how frequently, but what do they really mean and what do you do if the numbers don’t look so healthy.
2:00 Title: TPR – Taking Your Practice’s Vital Signs —Part 2
In the same way that the TPR gives an initial look at a pet’s basic health status, periodic financial and operational reports give the practice owner or manager a look at the practice’s financial health status. This section will cover not only what metrics to look at and how frequently, but what do they really mean and what do you do if the numbers don’t look so healthy.
3:00 Title: Is Your Practice in Organ Failure?
The business equivalent of organ failure would be a lack of profitability in your practice. Practice profitability drives cash flow, practice value and the ability to provide good quality pet care. And yet, it is one of the least understood of the financial metrics. This session will help you understand what practice profitability is, how to calculate it and how to revive it.
4:00 Title: I’m Up For Adoption – Joining a New Family
Bringing a new associate into practice ownership has even more challenges to it than adopting a new puppy or kitten. (They can’t be locked in a room if they bark too much!) And yet, succession planning is critical to the life and health of the practice. This session will outline the key issues that must be addressed in an associate buy-in.

8 most common management mistakes: Everything in the practice can be measured and managed but just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Effective management means focusing on the areas which will give you the most return for your investment of time and money.
